Supacolor Transfers
Ink pushed through a fine mesh stencil, one screen per colour. Unbeatable per-unit cost and durability at volume. A single hot press lays down a vibrant, salon-grade print on virtually any garment — and because there are no screens to burn or films to layer, it's the fastest deadline-saver we run, with a true 24-hour rush available.
Tap a step — the printed transfer is positioned, ready for the press.
What are Supacolor transfers?
Supacolor is a branded, premium heat-transfer system — the name behind the most colour-accurate, hard-wearing pre-printed transfers available to Australian apparel decorators. Each design is professionally printed onto a specialist carrier sheet at the factory, then shipped to us ready to apply. We position the sheet on your garment, close a calibrated heat press for a single short cycle, peel the carrier away while it's still hot, and the print is done. One press. No screens to burn, no films to weed, no layers to register. That single-press simplicity is exactly why Supacolor has become our go-to method whenever the clock is against us.
People often lump Supacolor in with "iron-on transfers" they remember cracking and peeling off a primary-school sports kit. It could not be more different. A genuine Supacolor transfer carries a dense, opaque ink layer with a self-laying adhesive engineered to bond into the fabric under heat and pressure. The result is a print with photographic sharpness, true Pantone-leaning colour and a finish rated for 50+ washes — comparable to a quality screen print, without any of the screen-printing setup.
Salon-grade detail and colour
Because the artwork is printed digitally at high resolution before it ever reaches a garment, Supacolor handles detail that other decoration methods struggle with. Fine lines, small reversed-out text, intricate crests, sharp gradients and full-colour photographic imagery all reproduce cleanly. There's no colour limit and no per-colour cost — a four-colour logo and a forty-colour festival illustration are priced the same way, by the size of the transfer rather than the complexity of the art.
Colour fidelity is where Supacolor genuinely earns its premium reputation. Whites stay bright and opaque even on black garments, skin tones look natural, and brand colours land where you expect them to. For corporate clients who live and die by a precise brand palette, that consistency from one order to the next is worth a great deal. If your artwork is a single bold spot colour across a thousand shirts, screen printing will still beat it on price. But for anything detailed, full-colour or photographic, Supacolor delivers a result that looks like it cost far more than it did.
Works on virtually any garment and fabric
One of the biggest practical advantages of Supacolor is fabric flexibility. The transfers bond to Cotton best; blends fine and almost everything in between — 100% cotton tees, polyester performance wear, cotton/poly blends, nylon, canvas tote bags, even tricky technical materials. That makes it a lifesaver for mixed orders where a single design has to go onto a stack of different garment types and colours.
Hi-vis, polyester and nylon
Hi-vis safety wear is notoriously difficult to decorate — the fabric is fluorescent polyester, often treated, and can scorch or dye-migrate under heat. Supacolor offers transfer constructions formulated to sit cleanly on hi-vis and other synthetics, with low-temperature and dye-blocking options that resist the pink "ghosting" you sometimes see when ordinary transfers bleed on red and orange poly. For workwear, trade crews and event marshals, that means a crisp logo on the exact safety garment you already use, with no compromise on compliance.
The same applies to sports jerseys and activewear: where dye sublimation is locked to white and light polyester only, and screen printing can struggle on stretchy technical knits, Supacolor presses neatly onto dark and coloured synthetics alike.
The fastest turnaround — our rush-job hero
If you remember one thing about Supacolor, make it this: it is the quickest path from "approved artwork" to "printed garment in your hands." Screen printing needs screens prepared and ink mixed. Embroidery needs a stitch file digitised. Sublimation and all-over printing are multi-day processes. A Supacolor transfer skips nearly all of that — the heavy lifting happens at the printing stage, so application is a matter of pressing each garment.
That's why Supacolor is the method we reach for when a client calls with an event this weekend, a last-minute uniform shortfall, or a trade-show booth that needs branded staff polos tomorrow. We offer a genuine 5–7 business days · rush available on this method — something we simply can't promise on screen, embroidery or sublimation. There are no setup fees and no minimum order (25 pieces is fine), so it's equally happy producing a single rescue shirt or a few hundred for a pop-up campaign. When the deadline is the deciding factor, Supacolor wins.
Durability you can wash and wear
A premium price only makes sense if the print lasts, and Supacolor holds up. Applied correctly on a calibrated press, transfers are rated for 50+ washes without significant cracking, fading or lifting at the edges. Wash garments inside out in cold to warm water, skip the tumble dryer where you can, and don't iron directly over the print — follow that and a Supacolor garment will look sharp for years. For uniforms, club kit and resale merch that has to survive constant laundering, that longevity is part of why we're comfortable charging a premium for it.
The durability comes down to how the transfer bonds. Rather than sitting as a thick rubbery layer on top of the cloth, a Supacolor print keys into the surface fibres during pressing, so it flexes with the fabric instead of fighting it. That flexibility is what stops the cracking you see on lesser transfers after a dozen cycles in a hot wash. It also means the print stays soft enough to wear comfortably against the skin — there's a faint surface feel where the design sits, but nothing stiff or plasticky across the whole panel.
Artwork, sizing and how to order
Getting a great Supacolor result starts with good artwork. Vector files (AI, EPS or PDF) reproduce most sharply, but high-resolution raster files at 300 dpi at print size work well too — which is what makes Supacolor so friendly for photographic designs and detailed illustrations. Because there's no colour separation step, you don't need to simplify your art or strip out gradients the way you would for screen printing; send it as you want it to look. We'll proof the layout and placement with you before anything goes to press, so you can sign off on size and position with confidence.
For placement, the most popular Supacolor jobs are left-chest logos, full front and back prints, and sleeve hits, all comfortably within the recommended print area. If you're decorating a mixed run — say, a hi-vis polo for the crew, a cotton tee for the office and a poly hoodie for the warehouse — we'll match the right transfer construction to each garment so the colour and bond are consistent across the lot. Tell us the quantities, the garments and your deadline, and we'll come back with a single clear quote and a realistic turnaround, including whether we can hit a same-day or next-day rush.
When to choose Supacolor — and when not to
Supacolor sits at the premium end of our transfer range, so it's worth being honest about where it shines and where another method is the smarter spend.
Supacolor vs DTF transfers
DTF (direct-to-film) is our everyday full-colour transfer — also no-minimum, also good on any fabric, and noticeably cheaper per piece. Supacolor justifies its premium on the toughest jobs: maximum colour opacity, the crispest fine detail, the cleanest result on awkward fabrics like hi-vis, and the fastest possible turnaround. For a straightforward full-colour logo on a small-to-mid run of cotton or blend tees, DTF is usually the value pick. For a detailed, brand-critical or rush job — especially on synthetics — step up to Supacolor.
Supacolor vs screen printing
Screen printing is unbeatable on cost once you're into the hundreds or thousands of a simple spot-colour design, and it has its own setup time. Supacolor wins on low quantities, full-colour and photographic art, mixed garments, and speed, with zero setup. As a rule: if it's high volume, simple and not urgent, screen print; if it's detailed, low-to-mid volume or due yesterday, Supacolor.
Designs work best kept under A3 in print area, which suits the vast majority of chest, back and sleeve placements. For seam-to-seam coverage you'd look to sublimation or all-over printing instead. And because the print sits on the surface of the fabric rather than dyeing the fibres, you'll feel a smooth printed area where a DTG or sublimated design would be undetectable — a fair trade for the colour, durability and speed Supacolor brings.
