What are Supacolor transfers?

Supacolor is a branded, premium heat-transfer system — the name behind the most colour-accurate, hard-wearing pre-printed transfers available to Australian apparel decorators. Each design is professionally printed onto a specialist carrier sheet at the factory, then shipped to us ready to apply. We position the sheet on your garment, close a calibrated heat press for a single short cycle, peel the carrier away while it's still hot, and the print is done. One press. People often lump Supacolor in with "iron-on transfers" they remember cracking and peeling off a primary-school sports kit. It could not be more different. Durability you can wash and wear

A premium price only makes sense if the print lasts, and Supacolor holds up. Applied correctly on a calibrated press, transfers are rated for 50+ washes without significant cracking, fading or lifting at the edges. Wash garments inside out in cold to warm water, skip the tumble dryer where you can, and don't iron directly over the print — follow that and a Supacolor garment will look sharp for years. For uniforms, club kit and resale merch that has to survive constant laundering, that longevity is part of why we're comfortable charging a premium for it.

The durability comes down to how the transfer bonds. Rather than sitting as a thick rubbery layer on top of the cloth, a Supacolor print keys into the surface fibres during pressing, so it flexes with the fabric instead of fighting it. Artwork, sizing and how to order

Vector files (AI, EPS or PDF) reproduce most sharply, but high-resolution raster files at 300 dpi at print size work well too — which is what makes Supacolor so friendly for photographic designs and detailed illustrations. Because there's no colour separation step, you don't need to simplify your art or strip out gradients the way you would for screen printing; send it as you want it to look. Supacolor vs DTF transfers

DTF (direct-to-film) is our everyday full-colour transfer — also no-minimum, also good on any fabric, and noticeably cheaper per piece. Supacolor justifies its premium on the toughest jobs: maximum colour opacity, the crispest fine detail, the cleanest result on awkward fabrics like hi-vis, and the fastest possible turnaround. For a straightforward full-colour logo on a small-to-mid run of cotton or blend tees, DTF is usually the value pick. For a detailed, brand-critical or rush job — especially on synthetics — step up to Supacolor.

Supacolor vs screen printing

Screen printing is unbeatable on cost once you're into the hundreds or thousands of a simple spot-colour design, and it has its own setup time. Supacolor wins on low quantities, full-colour and photographic art, mixed garments, and speed, with zero setup. As a rule: if it's high volume, simple and not urgent, screen print; if it's detailed, low-to-mid volume or due yesterday, Supacolor.

Designs work best kept under A3 in print area, which suits the vast majority of chest, back and sleeve placements. For seam-to-seam coverage you'd look to sublimation or all-over printing instead.
